Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to achieve and sustain an erection long enough to have sex. You may achieve an erection, but not be able to sustain long enough to reach ejaculation. You may develop an erection that isn’t firm enough for sexual activity. Or you may just not be able to get it up at all.

Interactions and contraindications

Do not take Tadalafil if you are allergic to it.
Do not use Tadalafil if you take nitrates or nitric oxide donors such as poppers
Do not take Tadalafil if you take riociguat.

It is not suitable if you have 
- severe heart or liver problems;
- very low blood pressure;
- recently had a heart attack or stroke;
- certain rare eye conditions, including a history of NAION or retinitis pigmentosa.

Speak to your clinician before use if you have:
- blood disorders that raise the risk of priapism, 
- a penile curvature such as Peyronie’s disease, 
- heart or circulation problems, 
- stomach ulcers, or 
- bleeding disorders.

Excess alcohol can increase side effects like dizziness and low blood pressure. Grapefruit juice may increase side effects. Some medicines can interact, including treatments for HIV, blood pressure, or prostate problems.

Side effects and cautions

Very common: headache.
Common: indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, flushing, nasal congestion, dizziness.
Uncommon: palpitations, changes in blood pressure, eye pain or blurred vision, tiredness or drowsiness, skin rash.
Rare: prolonged or painful erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, serious allergic or skin reactions. If you get chest pain during or after sex sit upright, do not take nitrates, and seek medical help.
